You can set up a consult with a RX-O2 specially trained hyperbaric specialist directly or your primary care physician will refer you to be evaluated to determine your candidacy for treatment. If you are considered a qualified candidate for treatment, you will require a prescription for hyperbaric oxygen therapy. There is a $100 fee for a hyperbaric oxygen therapy consultation and prescription, however this fee is waived if purchasing a HBOT package.

Your consultation does not include a HBOT treatment during your first visit.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy(HBOT) involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized environment. HBOT is a well-established treatment for decompression sickness, a potential risk of scuba diving. Other conditions treated with HBOT include serious infections, bubbles of air in your blood vessels, and wounds that may not heal as a result of diabetes or radiation injury and a number of other conditions.

In a hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber, the air pressure is increased two to three times higher than normal air pressure. Under these conditions, your lungs can gather much more oxygen than would be possible breathing pure oxygen at normal air pressure. This pressure plus pure oxygen forces the molecules of oxygen into the blood, plasma and even tissue.

When your blood carries this extra oxygen throughout your body, this helps fight bacteria and stimulate the release of substances called growth factors and stem cells, which promote healing. The benefits of HBOT are well established, but also continues to grow as research in this field expands into other areas.
